All fire extinguishers have specific uses. Fires are caused by different things. If you use the wrong fire extinguisher, it does absolutely nothing. It’s like playing a game of rock paper scissors, except if you lose then you die and your house burns down. No one is better than the other but they all have their advantages Also should mention that fire extinguishers aren’t “cold” and don’t put out a fire by making it cold. Fires don’t care about temperature, they need fuel, oxygen, and an energy source. Nowhere in that triangle includes temperature. You put something cold on a fire and it won’t care, unless it disturbs fuel, oxygen or energy source. Just basic fire training knowledge you learn in like grade 5 science.

The difference between this and an actual real world situation where someone would need to use pepper spray was you guys were anticipating it with your eyes closed where as an attacker would get shot with an eye open full of pepper spray where they’ll get knocked to the ground from the pain. I’ve seen videos where an attacker looks like they hit a brick wall after getting hit with pepper spray

Co2 is not good for loose fires like paper etc as the pressure will blow embers around .. that's why they have different types

Powder and Wet Chemical extinguishers are by far the best. Powder tackles the broadest range of fire classes, including electrical - which is the trickiest class to extinguish. Wet Chemical tackles oil/fat fires, which are by far the most dangerous due to the amount of heat they produce. CO2 is also dangerous in some applications (such as a confined room) because of the interference they have with the breathable air around you.
